Course Description :

IDA teaches students creative and technical solutions which are applied within a structure to achieve a built interior environment.

The interior design process follows a systematic and coordinated methodology, including research, analysis and integration of knowledge into the creative process, whereby the needs and resources of the end users are satisfied to produce an interior space that fulfils the project goals.

To achieve the goals students have compulsory training in below areas :

  • Research and analysis in various typo sectors
  • Project Case studies
  • Practical workshops at in house factory
  • Live project training / Internship in Offices

Concise Curriculum :

Module I & II

  • Sketching - Free Hand Sketching techniques
  • Interior design principles - Balance, Rhythm, proportion
  • Colouring Principles – Primary, secondary & Tertiary colour theory
  • Lighting Design – Direct & Indirect lights
  • Ergonomics - The applied science of equipment design, as for the workplace, intended to maximize productivity by reducing operator fatigue and discomfort.
  • Anthropometric - science dealing with measurement of the size, weight, and proportions of the human body.
  • Furniture styles – Contemporary, colonial, Neo classic
  • Residential & Commercial Space Planning – Planning, Furniture arrangement, detailing etc
  • Working Drawings – Construction drawings Includes Plan, Elevation, Section & Perspective views
  • Project Management – Project management is the discipline of planning, organizing, securing and managing resources to bring about the successful completion
  • Estimation & Costing – Quantity survey of interior items & Preparation of Bill of materials
